I am a compassionate, dedicated and culturally considerate licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California with 8+ years of experience working with children, individuals, couples and families.
I especially enjoy working with children, adolescents and young adults going through all stages of development and struggling with many different kinds of issues. I support my clients through healing from abuse, trauma, behavioral problems, anxiety, depression, eating disorder and more. Growing up is hard and most of us cannot do this work alone. It’s normal to need help along the way. During my work, I mainly help people to heal from relational disruption or loss, life transitions, familial stress, problems of people-pleasing, perfectionism, and impostor syndrome, and social stress/trauma related to intersectionalities of gender, race, sexuality, and class.
Before I pursued my dream in the psychology field, I was a registered nurse in Taiwan. I am bilingual in Mandarin and English. I also had experiences in working with children with ASD as a behavioral therapist, as well as in working with children and families that are involved with probation, DCFS and DMH. I also have experience working with crisis intervention and assessments for hospitalizations. Most of my work focuses on teens and young adults populations. High school and middle school years are challenging times for teens and their parents. It often leads to feelings of misunderstood. Meanwhile, early adulthood face life transitioning phase which can be exciting and overwhelming at the same time. I am here to help you learn how to communicate with your loved one more effectively and assist you to explore a future that fulfills you!
My main therapeutic modality is a blend of Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). My practice also has a strong focus on intergenerational trauma, acculturation stress, and identity conflict. As a Chinese American, I often consider the impact of the culture. I believe everyone has their unique traditions, subculture and life stories that they bring into therapy sessions. Therefore, I strongly believe in a comprehensive approach to treatment and to individualize therapy to fit the needs of each individual. I value a collaborative and transparent approach with my clients, and assist them in improving relationships, communication, emotion regulation, and management of life stressors.
