You don’t have to go through this alone—I’m here to help.

Life can be overwhelming, especially when you’re navigating anxiety, relationship struggles, or major life transitions. If you feel stuck, exhausted, or unsure of how to move forward, I want you to know that change is possible. My approach is warm, supportive, and direct—I offer a safe space where you can be yourself, feel heard, and start building the life you want. As a first-generation Latina, I understand the unique challenges of balancing cultural expectations with personal well-being, and I’m here to help you find clarity, confidence, and healing.

Education and Experience

I have over 11 years of experience in the mental health field, working with adults and older teens in a variety of settings, including foster care and adoption services, psychological evaluations for immigration, and individual and couples therapy. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and my Bachelor’s in Sociology from California State University, Los Angeles. I am also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and trained in trauma-informed care, ensuring that my approach is rooted in safety, trust, and cultural sensitivity.

Specialties & Approach

Dr. Betty Rivera
I specialize in helping clients work through anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, parenting struggles, and major life transitions. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I help clients recognize unhelpful thought patterns, develop healthier coping strategies, and build resilience. My approach is client-centered, meaning I tailor therapy to fit your unique needs and background. I strongly believe in integrating cultural identity into the healing process, as it plays a significant role in shaping who we are and how we experience the world. I also provide psychological evaluations for immigration cases, offering compassionate assessments that help individuals and families navigate complex legal processes with dignity and support.

My Beliefs & Values

I believe that healing takes time, and asking for help is one of the most courageous steps you can take. I stand in solidarity with immigrants, refugees, and marginalized communities, and I believe that mental health care should be accessible and affirming for everyone. I am passionate about advocacy, equality, and creating spaces where people feel valued, respected, and empowered to grow.

A Bit About Me

Outside of therapy, I find comfort in watching Gilmore Girls and other cozy small-town shows. I love road trips, being near the ocean, going for long walks, and spending time with my loved ones. One of my proudest roles aside from being a mother, is the title of grandmother that I was recently given at the young age of 40. Music is also a big part of my life, and Tupac remains one of my favorite artists because of how deeply his lyrics reflect real-life struggles.
If you’re ready to take the next step in your healing journey, I’d love to support you. Let’s work together to help you feel more confident, balanced, and in control of your life.
